About the program

EAA Chapter 105 awards aviation training scholarships to young people in our community. Applications are reviewed by the selection committee, and applicants hear back from us after their applications are reviewed.

Key things to know

• Applications are accepted year-round and reviewed by the selection committee, generally within two to four weeks of submission.
• Applicants must prepare the application entirely themselves.
• Three recommendation letters from non-family adults are required.
• Applicants under 18 must include a signed parent or guardian permission letter.
• Our program serves the greater Portland-Vancouver metro area; an in-person interview near Hillsboro is generally part of the selection process.
• Scholarship recipients are expected to be EAA members and to participate in Chapter 105 activities.
• Payments for training services is made directly to flight schools or instructors, based on itemized invoices submitted by the scholar.
• Applications are kept on file for up to one year; reapplying requires a fresh application package.
